Worth asking

Still worth learning?
Let’s talk about it.

AI, voice typing, speed scores. The questions behind the practice.

If AI can do everything, why do I still need to type?

AI makes your instructions more important.A vague prompt can produce a polished answer to the wrong question. You still supply the context, challenge the result, and make the final edit. Comfortable typing lets you keep that conversation moving as your ideas develop. The machine can generate the words; you decide what they should mean.

Why not just use voice typing for everything?

Try editing one character in a line of code.Voice is useful for getting a thought onto the page. A keyboard gives you precise control over what happens next: the name, the number, the punctuation, the tiny correction. It also works quietly in a library or shared office. Use the input method that suits you; having both gives you more ways to work.

I type every day. Why am I still stuck at the same speed?

Repeating a habit is different from improving it.If you look down for the same key or rush the same letter pair every day, those habits get repeated too. Focused practice lets you find the hesitation and work on it deliberately. Fix one recurring mistake, then check your progress on a comparable test. A busy keyboard is not automatically a better-trained one.

Is 100 WPM impressive if I keep making mistakes?

The backspace key has a time cost, too.A fast burst is only useful if the text is right. Read WPM alongside accuracy, test length, and difficulty. Your useful speed is the pace you can maintain while producing text you can trust. Build that first, then push the number.

Can a typing game help—or am I just getting good at the game?

The real test happens after the game.Games give you a reason to repeat key movements and keep practicing. To see whether that carries over, follow a game with ordinary text and a comparable typing test. Fewer repeated mistakes and steadier accuracy outside the game tell you more than a new high score alone.

Will an expensive keyboard make me a better typist?

Your keyboard cannot practice for you.A comfortable setup can help, but it cannot choose the right key or change a habit. Start with a keyboard that feels comfortable, practice the movements that slow you down, and take breaks. You can begin improving before you buy anything.
